[59] Florence was a nurse during WWI, attending patients during the "flu"epademic; an ordained Independent Full Gospel minister from 1924 untilher death. She practiced much of her Cherokee heritage in culinaryarts. Mother was an accomplished seamstress making all of my dressesand her own. We would go window shopping to look for new styles andsewing ideas, before long a new garment was on the sewing machine. Iloved the dresses but hated to stand and turn for my fittings. Iremember mother setting in our dining room by the large window sewingand her Bible near by. She constantly meditated on the Holy Word. I'mconvenced she saw truths beyond her time. She wrote many gospel songsto popular tunes and a tract that was published world wide. Herfavorite instrument was her guitar. She was a prayer warrior and herprayers were answered. Death was of degenerative heart decease; wasburied in Mountian View Cemetery, Boulder, Colorado.

Mother and her first husband, Fred Eldred, were comedians in avaudville act. He was a blackface and she played the straight linewith her quitar or mandolin. I always wondered why we never missedthe Medicine Shows, perhaps it was because of her years on the stage.
