Deep Creek Cemetery was moved to Medical Lake Cemetery prior to 1930.Robert enlisted in Company B. 61st Regiment, Illinois Volunteers,(Civil War) 3 Nov. 1861 at Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois andserved 3 years. The War Department Adjutant Generals Ofice,Washington, D.C., Oct 27 1886, document $567.281 stated he 'desertedwhile on duty as sentinel at Bolivar, Tn., Dec 26, 62". This was theBattle of Shiloh were he was wounded; family information is that hewas taken prisoner and escaped, however the War Dept would not acceptthat. Copy of marriage license, State of Illinois, Greene County, 16Feb 1861, issued by W.A. Davis; marriage officiated by Jock (Jack)Johnson, J.P. Verification of all the above held by the submitter.
Robert H. Crayne died at 1:23 pm, Friday, after a meal of berries sentby Lillie Walker from Ward, Colorado. He was laid out in a blackshroud & black coffin, hauled in a spring wagon from the UnitedBrethern Church to the Deep Creek Cemetery. Burried just 20 feet fromSteward Crayne's babies. There were 40 carriages in the procession on17 May 1908.
He married second in Boulder, Colorado, 1904 just 3 months afterGrandma Julia's death.
