Siblings: H. WALTER LEROY FISHER, Florence Barton Fisher McGill.

FLORENCE BARTON FISHER (BARTON LEROY, LIONEL EDWARD, JESSE JUSTIN, JAMES, MOLESTON, DANIEL) was born 27 Jun 1920 in Boulder, CO. She married RICHARD MCGILL, son of WILLIAM ROBERT MCGILL and CORA BESS HULET. He was born 26 Nov 1922 in Boulder, CO.

Florence owned and operated Fisher Letter Shop, Boulder, 1936-1940. Head bookkeeper School District #8, Boulder, Co.,about 1955; Time keeping clerk in the payroll department Swinerton-Walberg Construction Co. Rocky Flats, Colorado; secretary to Dr. Wiley, Colorado State Optometry Assn, Jurish Prudence, Boulder, Colorado, 1956-1962; departmental manager Southern Arizona Bank, Tucson, AZ., 1962-1965; department manager Pima County Sheriff Auxiliary Volunteer, (SAT) 1981-1985; librarian Family History Center, Tucson, AZ. 1989-present; ordained minister Independent Assemblies of God, International, 1964-1999. The greatest occupation of my life was caring for my children and their off-spring. Now my greatest joy is the love and respect they all give to me. God has really blessed me and I thank Him every day.

Richard began his working experience immediately after the 8th grade as kitchen aide for the Darigo mine. He later joined the miners underground at the Darigo, and several other mines around Boulder. He was mining coal at the time of his marriage. He was longshorman in Seatle, Washington during WWII. At the close of that war he went to Winton,Wyoming into another coal mine where we lived in a box car camp. These cars were as warm and cozy as could be. We were pioneering again with no indoor plumbing, carried water from a central well, doing family laundry on a scrub board and hanging them out to freeze dry. An experience I will alway treasure. These were the days of the 'company stores' as Tennessee Ernie Ford sang about in his famious '16 Ton'. In 1945 he returned to Boulder and joined the hodcarrier/labor union first as a quarryman then a hodcarrier for the University of Colorado. He began his 32 years in the heavy construction field as an Ironworker in AFL/CIO Ironworkers Locals 24 in 1951 and in 1962, after moving to Tucson, Arizona, in Local 75. He helped to build many large buildings and bridges in Colorado, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Arizona. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), NP11C, Estes Park, Colorado; honor member of Pima County Sheriff Auxilary Volunteers, 1981-1985. He retired on a disability from the Ironworkers in 1981.

Richard and Florence were married the night of the first national blackout and had dinner behind heavy, dark red drapery, by candle light. (If there were cars on the street at 8 p.m. they were to stop, turn off their engine and lights, until the 'all clear' sounded. Persons were not to have lighted smoking materials either.) They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a reception given by their daughter, Juanita, where Devin Harwell, grandson-in-law, read 'fun' vows and the gold bands, they had given to Richard's parents on their golden anniversary, were carried on the same white satan pillow, by Ginger Davis, granddaughter. The 'bride' was given away by their son, Richard, and other attendants were Walter Fisher, brother of the 'bride' and Wanda McGill Coughlin, sister-in-law of the 'groom'. Ray Biery, son-in-law, provided the limo. Remberances were read by Barbara Davis Harwell, granddaughter. A most wonderful day in our memory.

Children of RICHARD MCGILL and FLORENCE FISHER are:
JUANITA ROSE MCGILL b 25 Nov 1946 in Longmont, Boulder, CO. m GARY JAMES NICHOLS.

LAUREN GEORGE MCGILL b 20 Dec 1948 in Longmont, Boulder, CO.
